Sasse, Chanel
I am excited to welcome families and students to our 5th grade learning community. As a teacher, I focus on high expectations and unconditional positive regard for each student. In our learning community, we focus on building relationships and community through mindfulness and other social-emotional skills, finding tools to define our own success, and using our interests to deepen our learning.
This is my 5th year as a Saint Paul Public Schools teacher, but my 7th year in the district. Prior to Hamline, I was a teaching assistant at Parkway Middle School, a science inquiry fellow at Crossroads Science, a substitute teacher, an E2 Montessori teacher, a 3-5 virtual teacher, and a 3rd grade teacher! Upper elementary is my passion and I love watching students catch that spark of understanding!
When I’m not at Hamline Elementary, I am a graduate student at Hamline University, working on my Master’s of Arts in Teaching. I also have a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Knox College. I enjoy playing my banjo-ukelele, singing, traveling, making collage art, visiting family and friends, listening to podcasts, reading, yoga, dancing, and taking long walks.
