Greetings Huskies! My name is Tony Dawis and I am a special education teacher working with students in kindergarten through second grade. I received my degree from the University of Minnesota right here in the Twin Cities. This will be my first year of teaching and I couldn’t be more excited than to work with the Husky community because I grew up in Saint Paul and attended Saint Paul Public Schools.
When I am not at school I find joy in spending time with my dogs, Kirby and Whittles. I obtain relaxation in the streams and bluffs of Southeast Minnesota at Whitewater State Park, and I just started to learn how to fish for trout with a fly rod. When Winter comes you can find me searching the frozen lakes for the best ice fishing spot. Basketball and Pickleball are my favorite sports to play, and I am a fan of cheering on Minnesota’s sports teams. I like working with tools and I can usually fix my own car repairs without having to bring it to a shop. Before becoming a teacher, I was a sheet metal worker where I fabricated and installed air conditioning equipment in some of the finest buildings in the metro area.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this community with the hopes of passing the skills I learned on to a new generation of 21st century learners. Nothing is impossible when we face challenges as a pack. Let’s go Huskies!
