Staff Profile
Heather Oechsli
My name is Heather Oechsli and I am one of the 5th grade teachers. I joined the team at Hamline Elementary in the Spring of 2024, and I am looking forward to another great year. I began teaching in 2012 and have had many different roles in education. I have been a classroom teacher, literacy coach, and assistant principal. I have taught both elementary school and middle school in several different school districts: Milwaukee Public Schools, Mounds View Public Schools, Anoka-Hennepin Schools, and St. Paul Public Schools. I have an undergraduate degree in Spanish from UNC-Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in Urban Education from Cardinal Stritch University. My licensure areas are Elementary Education, Bilingual Education, K-12 Reading, and K-12 Administration.
In the classroom, I work hard to make sure that students feel safe, supported, and empowered to make their own learning decisions. I believe in meeting students where they are and helping them develop at their own pace. 5th grade is a year of tremendous growth as students get ready for middle school, and I enjoy walking alongside students as they navigate the transition.
In my free time, I like to spend time with my partner and four year old twins, exercise, play piano, and read.
I look forward to partnering with you this year to help your child be successful. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions and concerns.
